Engineering Services
A critical component of the
engineering design process for buildings, roads, utilities,
structures, or essentially anything built on the earths’
surface, is a thorough understanding of geotechnical
issues, before ground is broken.
A major cost implication can arise when these issues
are not well-understood or planned for prior to construction.
At CTI, we design solutions to geotechnical issues,
such as unstable soil conditions, with constructability
and construction costs in mind.
Balancing
design factors of safety with costs is not always
straightforward; however, this is a key consideration
for our geotechnical engineers. In doing so, we
develop innovative solutions that save our clients
money.
CTI can determine and define many "unknowns"
related to the surface and subsurface conditions
of the site. This provides project planners with
the data necessary to identify the costs of these
phases, including those associated with the existence
of adverse site conditions that otherwise may
have gone undetected or may not have been discovered
until the construction phase. |

Our involvement does not end in simply
identifying the surface and subsurface conditions. Our
expertise in the geotechnical engineering field allows
us to take an active role in assisting designers and
planners in the formulation of the most economical foundation
systems, pavement sections, de-watering systems, excavation
slopes, or other soil related aspects for a project.

EMBASSY
SUITES/ONE NORTHWEST PLAZA
CTI provided geotechnical
engineering support to construction of two ten-story
commercial buildings. In addition to geotechnical
engineering during the design phase, CTI provided
quality control and inspection services during the
construction phases to ensure that contact specifications
were being followed by the Contractor.
